Job Summary

The Shift Foreman has the responsibility to ensure completion of projects to maintain schedules, supervise all workers, and ensure standards are strictly enforced and achieved by the Coatings team.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Supervises and schedules the work activities of subordinates.
  • Note any special instructions on project work orders and advise workers.
  • Estimate material and labour requirements for the projects.
  • Ensure all operating procedures are followed.
  • Maintain schedules.
  • Assign personnel suitable and trained in all Procedures relating to a specific project.
  • Supervise workers for efficient and successful completion of their specific tasks.
  • Identify and record any problems relating to the product, process and quality system
  • Ensure Team Members are knowledgeable and supportive of the Quality Assurance and Safety Programs.
  • Correspond and verbally communicate in a professional manner with customers.
  • Represent Altus in a professional manner, with a high degree of respect for all existing and potential customers.
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills and Experience Required
  • Five years experience in coatings application and one year experience as a foreman in the industrial coatings industry supervising crew sizes of 10 or greater. NACE training a preferred attribute.
  • Ability to problem-solve and generate workable solutions and resolve complaints.
  • Flexible team player who thrives in environments requiring ability to effectively prioritize and juggle multiple concurrent projects
  • Resourceful team player who excels at building trusting relationships with customer and colleagues.
Education and Training Required
  • Completion of college/CEGEP/vocational or technical training
  • NACE Training preferred

Physical Requirements
  • Frequent standing and walking required throughout the day.
  • Frequent climbing, stooping, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, and twisting are required.
  • May be required to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to wear a full-face respirator for extended periods.
  • May be required to work in extremely tight spaces or on elevated platforms.
  • In lead abatement situations, must have blood lead levels within an acceptable limit.
